Learn the tools to work with non-professional actors and direct your own film sequence.
The course offers students tools to work with non-actors in short and feature length films, encouraging them to develop a keen and sensitive look towards the other, as a part of working as a director.
The program is divided in four weeks:
Search: non-conventional models of research; approaching and casting non-actors.
Encounter: strategies to redefine characters and the script based on the encounter with non-actors.
Journey: a set of specific practices while shooting with non-actors.
Arrival: shooting a complete film sequence with non-actors, from the writing/adaptation to the final cut.
The highlight of each week is a 1-hour class taught LIVE, where you can interact directly with the instructor and other classmates. You can also access recorded files of the classes and supporting materials at any time during the course. After each class, the students work on assignments and practical exercises, and receive feedback from the instructor. At the end of the course, you will have developed your own project.
